"I want to push boundaries because our God doesn’t play it safe: He has a wild imagination and I want my music to creatively reflect that!”
Multi-faceted singer-songwriter, and musician, Eric Sumpter has been doing music arts since the age of 5. An accomplished Christian artist, he’s shared his passion for God, life, and love all throughout Europe, Asia, the UK, Caribbean and the U.S. as a featured vocalist on NBC's The Voice, The Sing-Off's Committed, within stage acts like the Glory Gospel Singers (Ponyo: Ghibli Studios Presents -Songs for the Angels), 2nd place winner of Japan's Nodojiman the World (Japan Idol), several productions with Sight & Sound Theatres (Noah, Miracle of Christmas, Jonah), and the Broadway musical Inner City.
After almost a decade of recording, collaborating, and touring, Eric is eager to use his artistry to inspire hope, change, and WORSHIP in a new creative way as founder and leader of the the christian community of artists known as THE CCV WORSHIP COLLECTIVE.
“I'm no respecter of genre. If it's a good song or a good artist whether rock, pop, jazz or hip hop, it's probably influenced me on some level…I'm a sum of a bunch of parts! The cool thing is, when you can use those elements in an innovative way to honor God....NOW you've got somthin'!” -Eric Sumpter
This philosophy seems to bear well as he currently serves as lead Worship Arts Pastor at Christ's Church of the Valley (CCVLive.com) in Suburban Philadelphia where their vision is to create a church "unchurched" people LOVE to attend by showing what it means to LOVE God and LOVE others. It is here that Eric and the CCV Worship Collective Band get the opportunity to lead the community into encounters with Christ.
"I want to push boundaries because our God doesn’t play it safe, go small, or can be limited to a box: He has a wild imagination and I want my music and my art to creatively reflect that!” With a musical style rooted in gospel and soul, Eric recounts his first memories hearing sweet bluesy quartet harmonies from his father's singing group, or sitting in church, watching his mother direct the local choir.
Since then Eric’s travels has shaped his influences in a profound way over the years to capture a sound he now likes to call LIFE MUSIC!
Eric's great power and presence on stage and moving performances set him apart for a musical experience that is truly spiritual.
